The surface area and volume of both prisms and pyramids are very closely related as well as cylinders and cones. The formula for volume of a prism is V = Bh while the formula for the volume of a pyramid is V = 1/3Bh that basically tells us that a pyramid is 1/3 the volume of what the prism would be. The same exact idea pertains to cylinders and cones also. Surface area for all 4 figures deal with lateral area.
